What is a SWIFT code?
A SWIFT (BIC) code is the international identifier of a bank. It is used to route money to the right bank when you send or receive payments across borders.
8 or 11 characters?
An 8-character code identifies the bank; an 11-character code adds a 3-character branch suffix. Eight characters is usually enough, but some banks ask for the branch code — check with the receiving bank.
Codes are compiled from public directories (Standard Islami Bank’s was checked against the bank’s own page). Confirm the code with the receiving bank before an international transfer; no public SWIFT code was found for Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank and Bangladesh Samabaya Bank, so ask those banks directly.
